During 2003, Tom Nicoli was a participant in the Dateline NBC Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge. He was the only hypnotist to be featured on the show. His subject "Marc" lost 40 pounds using hypnosis during the test period.

After "Average Joe: Hawaii" chubophobe Larissa bid "aloha" to portly contender Donato Ventresca, the Melrose homey decided to shed a few pounds by getting sleepy . . . very sleepy!
"I've always had some sort of weight issue. And now, I'm just trying to get back into the swing of things," said Donato, who rang up Woburn hypnotist Tom Nicoli after catching a segment about him on a recent "Dateline NBC."
